'Living a Nightmare': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire

The families of teens unaccounted for after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are confronting an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for clues about their family members publicly.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated images reveal the roof structure catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have indicated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the disaster, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and injured another 119. A spokesperson noted on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to name the remaining few.

In the waiting period, loved ones have been posting on online platforms to request any news about their friends who were in attendance that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his family.

The who lives of Lutry near the city, explained to a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she stated.

She continued that some of his peers had been discovered with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through hell."

The Italian government has indicated that six of its young people have not been located.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last heard from around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, originally from Italy but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has said that he is no longer with us, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"A companion informed me they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his educators commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are closely watching the case.
