Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
